Anti-Semitic legislation

 

Metodi Atanassov Popov (1881 – 1954)
A Bulgarian biologist. He specialized in biology, comparative anatomy and parasitological science in Munich, Berlin, Paris and London. Doctor (1906) of the University of Munich; head of the General Biology Chair (1920 – 1921) of the Sofia University’s School of Medicine. Minister Plenipotentiary in Berlin (1923 – 1931). He exposed the absurdity of Nazi theory of pure blood. He returned the orders that the German Government had decorated him with to Hitler by way of protest in 1937. His views were expounded in “Heredity, Blood and Nations”, “The Bulgarian People between the European Races and Nations. His lectures in public in Bulgaria in 1938 were thwarted by fascistic groups . 9-10 November 1938, Kristallnacht.
Nazi pogroms of SA and SD groups on Jews in Germany and Austria. Over 815 shops owned by Jews and 76 synagogues were destroyed; 91 synagogues were set on fire; 20 000 Jews were arrested; 36 Jews were killed.

“Only those, who have German blood can be our countrymen. Hence no Jews can be countryman.

From the Law for the Protection of German Blood and German Honor, 15 September 1935
SECTION 1 Marriages between Jews and nationals of German or kindred blood are forbidden.
Marriages concluded in defiance of this law are void, even if, for the purpose of evading this law, they are concluded abroad.
SECTION 2 Relation outside marriage between Jews and nationals of German or kindred blood are forbidden.
SECTION 4 Jews are forbidden to hoist the Reich and national flag and to present the colors of the Reich. The exercise of this authority is protected by the State.

 

Section two of the draft version of the Law for Protecting of the Nation. Art.15 defines the legal notion “Jew”. Texts in this section were transposed from the Nuremberg Laws of 1935.
